Deeply attracted by this project. Would you like to start some cooperation with me?
I sent you an email, let me know what you have in mind!
I’m seriously impressed with this creation and amount of interest it has attracted. Well done!
Really beautiful! I’m interested in doing something quite similar, but the fiber optic component is new to me. How did you source the fiber optic cables? Is any plastic “side glow” cable going to be okay for this? What width is required? How precise did you have to be to drill the holes on the back plate? (i.e. could you have done that part by hand, or was the alignment finicky?)
Hey Patrick,
The fibers are held with friction, but I did round over the ends with a torch which made them stick a bit.
I used end glow fibers – but they glow out the sides a little bit. Any diameter is fine but if they’re too small I don’t think they’ll pick up much light.
The holes in the back plate don’t need to be accurate, as long as they’re near the LED they should be fine.
